Bob Marley Lyrics of Resistance

$26.00

This book is the extension of a course on Bob Marley, which I teach at Arizona State University. It brings together some of the lectures and thoughts I have expressed both in and out of the classroom on the life and music of Marley. The book explores his lyrics as political text and reads them as products of the political realities of the periods of decolonization and early independence in Jamaica and the wider Anglophone Caribbean. Further, it locates Marley and his lyrics in the Caribbean’s Black radical tradition, particularly its resistance and protest dimensions.
